When people think of “business” the picture this conjures up can often be of a large money making concern making huge profits for cigar smoking, Mercedes driving company directors.

There are many businesses operating in Coventry and Warwickshire however whose prime objective is “social benefit” and this can result in great difficulties in obtaining loan funds from banks and other financial institutions.

Social enterprises could be charity shops, community groups or businesses providing a vital service or generating employment to an area.

A new “not for profit” organisation has now been set up in Coventry and Warwickshire providing loan finance specifically for these social enterprises.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Reinvestment Trust can provide loans of between £500 and £40 000 over flexible repayments terms of up to ten years to individuals or businesses who provide a social benefit to the area.
